Buttons?

I clipped these from an old TBG back when Woody was still alive. They look like buttons in a way. Were they?

    I don't have the ad for reference but I do believe these are buttons. There were also rubber stamps produced. Most were sold through Woody's friend, Jack Robinson. I checked with Jack recently to see if he might still have any but he didn't.
