The Outer Space Spirit

Here's a nice collection of the splash pages to the final sections of Will Eisner's Spirit in which Wood did most of the art.

Ghost Manor Story

Former Woodworker Wayne Howard did a lot of Wood-esque artwork for Charlton's various spooky titles. Here's one by Wood himself!

UPDATE: Alan Kupperberg assures us that, in spite of Wood's solo signature on this piece, the actual pencils are from his (and Woody's) early seventies studio mate, Jack Abel.

Sky Masters Original Art

Ferran Delgado, Publisher of the lovely Spanish collection of SKY MASTERS OF THE SPACE FORCE, the controversial (for behind the scenes stuff, not anything in the plot) strip drawn by Jack Kirby and Wally Wood beginning in 1958, has posted on his own blog as well as at COMIC ART FANS and in the Wally Wood Yahoo group the strip seen here, his first acquisition of original art from SKY MASTERS. Hopefully he doesn't mind my sharing it with Wood fans here, also.

"This strip is very special to me because I edited the spanish edition of the Sky Masters, and I spent lots of time and efforts to pay tribute to one of the best strips ever made, although unfortunately one of the less known. I'd like to think that I helped to widespread it, at least in Spain.

Now at last I feel that my collection is complete, and I can retire of the hobby."

Rich Dannys

Along with Hilary Barta and Ty Templeton and a relatively few others, here's another name one can add to the list of those modern-day artists inspired by Wallace Wood--Rich Dannys. Rich has some great sixties style art homages up on his website and a number of them--along with his profile pic of Bucky Ruckus...or is that Goody Bumpkin?--indicate a distinct Wood influence.

Harry Harrison Blog

Not too much about Wood there that I see but his one-time art-partner, Harry Harrison, is covered in great depth and detail over the past few years in the official blog linked below. Harrison, of course, is not primarily known as an artist at all in spite of several years in the comic book field. He began writing science-fiction and never looked back, creating such memorable characters and concepts as The Stainless Steel Rat and the world of Soylent Green.
