I had some of these as a kid but, of course, had no idea that they were actually designed by Wally Wood and Basil Wolverton as Topps' 1965 UGLY STICKERS. The realized in rubber versions were, if I recall, available in gumball machines two years later as RUBBER UGLIES.
I haven't seen these in ages! I bought these in gum machines, but who know they were designed by Wood and Wolverton? I guess I had good taste even at 8 years old!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. I have started a forum specifically for rubber uglies if anyone cares to join. :)
